The hymn "Behold Arrangement of the Psalms glories of the Lamb" is said to have been the first he composed, and written as an attempt to raise the standard of praise. This venerable minister was pastor of the Baptist church formerly worshipping in Carter Lane, Tooley Street, Southwark, from which place they were removed in consequence of the building of the new London Bridge, and subsequently assembled in New Park Street.
